Looking around campus you often see an array of outfits. There are the individuals who obviously rolled out of bed and threw together the closest outfit, and there are the individuals who meticulously plan each outfit they wear. This next Fashionisto is an example of someone who plans his outfit ahead of time.
Name: Kelvin Tam
Major: Computer Science
CollegeFashionista: What are you wearing?
KT: I’m wearing a cardigan from American Eagle, a button-down from Express, khakis also from Express and a pair of Sperry Top-Siders.
CF: What influences your style?
KT: I would say that the environment I’m in and who I’m with influences my style. When I’m on campus I tend to wear more business causal attire to appear more professional for my professors; however when I’m at home, I dress more casually and wear a lot of T-shirts.
CF: Where are your favorite places to shop?
KT: I don’t actually shop very often, but when I do I always go to Express and American Eagle.
CF: How has your style changed over time?
KT: I previously focused on fitting in and wearing the same labels as everyone else, but since college I’ve been more focused on looking polished. I know it is important to leave a good impression on the professors, so I always try to dress well for class.
How To: Remember that it is always important to dress appropriately for class and to leave a good impression on your professor. In order to look presentable for class, try to think ahead of time and plan your outfit the day before.
