Something about fall brings out the best in men’s fashion, especially when it comes to cozy sweaters, layering and boots. I have to say, I am excited to see what new trends pop up around campus this year for our fellow Fashionistos. However, despite what trends may come, the classic flannel paired with skinny jeans is always in style. This Fashionisto’s rugged cool weather look caught my eye starting with his beanie and ending with his boots. There’s no denying he’s ready for the leaves to change and the temperatures to drop.

CollegeFashionista: How has your style evolved throughout college?
John Bellows: College has definitely given me the opportunity to wear anything and everything as well as mix and match. Sometimes a weird party outfit or a hodgepodge of patterns on laundry day might turn what is normally an ordinary outfit into an extraordinary outfit in a different setting.
CF: How do you keep your look unique?
JB: Weirdness. If you look a little off, then you’re doing it right. Figuring out what doesn’t work is the only way to know what does.
CF: What are your favorite accessories?
JB: Sunglasses and shoes, preferably boots.
CF: What is something new you want to try this fall to spice up your wardrobe?
JB: I want to experiment with patches and layering.
How To: The main element to recreating this look is finding the right pair of boots. I’m an advocate of splurging when it comes to shoes because they get the most wear and tear. If you’re willing to spend a little extra, you might be interested in these Frye boots. But if you’re on more of a college budget, then try something like these GBX boots, which give you a similar look. Next, put on your favorite worn in flannel and a good pair of men’s skinny jeans. Finally, top it off with a knit beanie and trendy backpack for this campus-ready look.
