I spotted this Fashionisto on his way to the Viking Union building. In the midst of dark rain jackets, Joe’s bright red coat and charming beard set him apart. His new shoes, from the local store Hilton, were a warm brown that settled well against Western’s woodsy backdrop. I didn’t miss the detailing of his button-up shirt collar left tucked under the sweater. It was a minor variation in texture from an otherwise all black ensemble beneath the red.
Name: Joe Rudko
CollegeFashionista: What are you wearing today?
Joe Rudko: My coat is vintage; I think it’s from the 50’s. The shoes are new from Hilton.
CF: What’s your staple for rain weather?
JR: Shoes that don’t get my feet wet. That’s a big one. I sprayed my shoes 4 times last night.
CF: Do you have any style icons?
JR: I’m not super style conscious other than just thrifting to find stuff that’s cheaper.
CF: Where do you like to shop?
JR: I don’t really buy anything online at all. I buy from local thrift stores. I like to support local companies like Hilton. The Goodwill, definitely. I don’t think I’m that interested in fashion really.
CF: Was there something you really wanted to buy that you’ve been thinking about but haven’t gotten around to yet?
JR: A good backpack that doesn’t cost too much. It’s been hard to find. I don’t like mine very much. It’s just one from the Lowepro camera equipment company. I hate it though, I ripped off the label.
