The other day, I took a gander down to the local hangout, Easton outdoor mall, to spot local Fashionista/os. Making sure to place myself in an area with a lot of foot traffic, I waited for a well-dressed young lady or man to walk on by. I didn’t think I would be waiting too long, because I was centered in the Bermuda Triangle of clothing retailers H&M, Forever 21 and Abercrombie. What did I see? A smorgasbord of Midwestern outfits typical of the season. Women with jeans tucked into mid-calf boots, and men sheathed in stretched out sweatshirts. Not a single fashionable person crossed my path! Without a single photo, I drove back home. Fortunately, I didn’t have to look any further than my backyard. As I pulled in the driveway, a fashionable young man (my brother) was standing there with his pet pal, Buddy. An ambush photo shoot and interview followed.
Name: Evan Pandell
Major: Business Administration
CollegeFashionista: It’s a little cold out, where is your jacket!?
Evan Pandell: Oh, I just came out here real quick to let my dog out (he laughs). Didn’t expect to run into you (Yes he did. I’m unavoidable, because I’m his sister).
CF: Well, I wont keep you long. You’re outfit is clean and simple, yet you look very fashionable! What’s your secret to dressing well?
EP: Thanks. Umm, I don’t know if I have a secret. I guess I just wear what I like and what I think looks good on me. I also take fashion tips from my mom and sister (Duh).
CF: Good stuff! What advice do you have for young men out there looking to up their style?
EP: Hmm. I would say, try different types of clothing on when shopping. I am a creature of habit and I think most guys are. Once I got out of my comfort zone a little, I was able to get away from my usual uniform of a T-shirt and basketball shorts.
CF: That’s some great advice. Thanks for sharing your outfit with us today.
Recently, men’s fashion is getting a taste of the fifties with colorful gingham prints in blues, reds and greens. Here this Fashionistos pairs his gingham shirt with freshly pressed khakis. You can’t go wrong with classic dressing and that’s why its great for guys who want to be fashion forward without the hassle. Paired with a belt and a snazzy set of loafers, any guy can look put together and be out the door in a matter of minutes. Investing in a good pair of khakis is a worthwhile choice. If they fit well and are of good quality, they will last you awhile. Not to mention khakis are a versatile neutral that go with a variety of different button-ups such as plaid, gingham or solid colors. With a new semester starting up, this guy looks fresh and relaxed. I’d have to bet the ladies on campus will be looking twice when he is sporting this outfit.
