FASHIONISTO SPOTLIGHT: Benjamin Sette

Fashionisto Spotlight

In this frigid, below freezing, red-nose getting, cold weather that we are experiencing, it is hard to find guys that dress fashionably. When it is this cold, most guys have one idea in mind — to stay warm. This typically means sweatshirts and sweatpants because they provide the comfiest version of warmth. To my surprise, on the opposite side of the street, I spotted my Fashionisto, Ben by his multi-colored scarf and golden yellow pullover sweater; no sweatshirt or sweatpants in sight. Ben looked as if he had just walked out of a J.Crew catalogue, both preppy and put together. The colors of his outfit were fall favorites of yellow, red, burgundy, maroon, which laid the foundation of colors for his solid black chinos and tan leather boots.

Name: Benjamin Sette

Major: Communication Studies

Year: Junior

College Fashionista: How would you describe your personal style?

Benjamin Sette: My personal style is a combination of urban boy meets preppy-going-yachting boy. I find my fashion inspiration through Pinterest, J.Crew catalogues and the fashion blog website thefashionisto.com. The mixes of words I use to describe my style are urban, hipster, preppy, trendy, relaxed and comfy.

CF: What does fashion mean to you?

BS: Fashion is a lifestyle. It’s about being able to look at multiple pieces of clothing and accessories of all different patterns and colors and then understanding what pieces work together. It describes a person, helps to tell the story of their life, how they are feeling, what kinds of things they are in to and much more.

CF: What are your staple pieces or accessories for the fall season?

BS: My staple pieces are earth-toned oxford shoes and my Steve Madden boots! My staple accessories are various scarves of all colors and patterns.

CF: What are the most important aspects to you when choosing your outfits?

BS: For me, the most important aspects include the button down shirt, what sweater will go with it, what color will slightly make my pants stand out, and the jacket that pulls the entire look together.

How to: Replicate this Fashionisto’s look by implementing fall colors into your everyday style, a little red and yellow never hurt anyone’s wardrobe. For something different, try this outfit out with a leather jacket or a peacoat over the sweater with a scarf wrapped around the top.
