Lately, the winter weather in the southern part of the United States has been bipolar. However, we Southerners love it when we get a break from that northern cold front. You don’t have to ask us twice about what we are going to wear to school on a hot day. It’s not surprising to me when I see Fashionista/os wearing summer dresses or shorts and lightweight button-downs to class in the beginning of February. I know it’s crazy! It just so happens that today is one of those perfect sunny days when I spotted this Fashionisto heading to class. His casual white ensemble reminds me of a spread for Sperry Top-Siders in a Teen Vogue magazine.
Name: Antonio Moten
Major: Business Economics
CollegeFashionista: Tell me about what inspired your look for today?
Antonio Moten: I plan on going to UGA in two years so I tend to always wear UGA attire. I’m from the South and I like to wear shorts, Sperry Top-Siders and TOMS shoes. I also like button-downs, they are my thing and today the weather was great outside.
CF: What is your go-to item in your closet that you cannot live without?
AM: My black leather jacket! I love it because you can pair it with anything.
CF: What is your favorite brand of clothing?
AM: I like Brooks Brothers the most. They are an expensive brand but their clothes are comfortable and they last a lot longer.
CF: What kind of advice could you give to fellow Fashionistos who want to look good but are on a college budget?
AM: My advice is to shop at Target and T.J.Maxx. At T.J.Maxx you can usually get everything half price. Also another great tip is to go vintage shopping because it is always in.
How To: To recreate this look, the important thing is to keep it casual with a twist of collegiate feel. Once you have your snapback you are ready to show off your school pride with your crisp, clean and casual outfit just like today’s Fashionisto.
