My favorite items in my closet are usually the pieces I have owned the longest, because I refuse to let of go of my favorites. I cherish these treasures, and because of my extended use of them, they tend to have a little wear and tear – but I like the rugged feel and look. I particularly enjoy rugged pieces on men, but women can pull them off also. This Fashionisto especially caught my eye with his worn-in rugged-looking jacket with tears at the elbow. He claims it wasn’t on purpose, but I love personal touches. He rocks it well!
Name: Alex Tufarolo
CollegeFashionista: How would you describe your personal style?
Alex Tufarolo: I mostly like things that are simple and functional. I don’t really like a lot of bright colors; I prefer neutral colors, earth tones and nature-like colors.
CF: What’s your favorite season for getting dressed?
AT: Probably winter. I don’t own too many summer clothes, but I own a lot of sweaters. I don’t like wearing shorts, either.
CF: Where is your favorite place to shop?
AT: I buy a lot of stuff from military surplus stores because the clothes are really cheap, but also, generally, of high quality. I like clothes that’ll last a long time because I’m a college student and I don’t have a lot of money to spend on clothes. I generally find stuff online or on eBay, things that I like. I don’t really have a favorite store. I tend not to shop in brick-and-mortar stores because I like to find stuff on sale online.
CF: What’s your favorite part about getting dressed every day?
AT: I don’t have a favorite part; I just do it. I wake up, take a look outside and throw something on. It always seems to work out for me.
How To: Like he says, this Fashionisto keeps it simple and functional with earth tones. To get his look, pair a mustard jacket with olive colored army patchwork pants –the colors complement each other well. Under his jacket is a red, white and blue flannel button-down for warmth. He completes this look with black boots and a charcoal scarf. Simple, yet coordinated enough to turn heads.
