I always love it when someone can rock a monochromatic look with a few color accents, be it through accessories, shoes, detailing or whatnot. I spotted this Fashionista on her way out of the Quad (where most of us freshmen reside) in this slouchy, casual top from Brandy Melville paired with basic black leggings and classic black leather riding boots. My favorite thing about this look is that even though her entire outfit is totally comfortable and and easy to wear, she is still able to look put together and stylish for all of her classes. Epitome of college necessities, anyone?

CollegeFashionista: How would you describe your style?
Tina Hsu: I would definitely say my style is a combination of comfortable and trendy. I really like unique pieces, like vintage looking jackets and sweaters, but I also tend to pair these with plain jeans or leggings so I can feel good in my own skin too. I'm always looking for the latest trend and I love accessorizing with one or two small pieces every now and then!
CF: Where are your favorite places to shop online or around campus?
TH: My favorite places to shop online are definitely NASTY GAL or Brandy Melville. They have really cute styles that aren't too expensive, and everything they have is really unique. I also really enjoy shopping on websites like Shopbop, Revolve and Need Supply Co. because they all have a bunch of different brands gathered in one place, and they all usually have really great end of the season sales. Around campus, I can't live without American Apparel! They have all of the basics that I need for both fancy and casual events, and I love how everything they have can be dressed up or down. I also really like Piper Boutique and Bonded Boutique because they have a lot of interesting and different items.
CF: What's one thing in your wardrobe that you can't live without?
TH: I can't live without my black Aritzia leggings. They are comfortable, don't wear out and I can match them with pretty much anything.
CF: What inspires your style?
TH: I'm inspired by my friends! Especially back at home in California, my friends have the cutest clothing, and I love bouncing fashion ideas off of them. Now, I try and combine their clothing ideas with the vibe of the east coast to create my own style.
How To: Make your dark colors pop with a few key gold accents. Here, Tina's gold chain necklace and gold detailing on the backs of her boots perfectly embody this.
