This week's Fashionista clashes urban edge with cool comfort to create a style all her own. Senior Rachel Coffey combines rugged pieces like distressed Chelsea boots with sumptuous scarves and A-symmetrical knits to create the perfect contrast of boyish and beautiful.
Inspired mostly by her three sisters, she rarely feels dictated by trends. Rather, this Fashionista gravitates towards what feels comfortable, effortless and unique.
Name: Rachel Coffey
CollegeFashionista: If you had to whittle down your wardrobe to five items, what would they be?
Rachel Coffey: My Chelsea boots, my red crochet scarf, my olive green scarf, my tan skinny jeans and probably my gray striped sweater.
CF: Who or what typically inspires your personal style?
RC: My younger sister has great style. All my sisters do really, so I think I probably get my inspiration from them.
CF: Are there any trends you're dying to try out right now?
RC: A leather vest or a motorcycle vest.
CF: Do you feel as though certain aspects of your personality are reflected in the way you dress?
RC: I guess so. My style is pretty laid back, and I'm not a super high-strung person. So I think it's safe to say that I'm pretty laid back too.
CF: Describe your style in three words.
RC: Cozy, cool, artsy.
How To: Get Rachel's look by pairing a chunky infinity scarf with sleek denim and a breezy field jacket. For a look that's a little rough around the edges, opt for some worn-in ankle boots. For a bit of polish or a pop of color, try a bright ballet flat or loafer.
