I spotted this Fashionista in my public relations design class. Her bright striped sweater contrasted the dreary weather which mimicked the mood of exam-induced dismay. Clothes are an easy mood-lifter to help get through a tough week filled with finals and homesickness.
Name: Morgan Casavant
CollegeFashionista: What are you wearing?
Morgan Casavant: I'm wearing a cotton black summer dress and sweater from H&M, leggings from Victoria's Secret and xappeal boots.
CF: What inspired your look, today?
MC: I spent last weekend with my aunt, who has a really funky style. I probably drew inspiration from that, but I didn't really think too much about it when I got dressed. When I woke up it was chilly, but it was supposed to be warm by the afternoon, so I didn't really want to wear jeans.
CF: How would you describe your style?
MC: My personal style ends up just being whatever I feel like wearing in the morning. I don't feel like I fit into one specific style. I really like patterns and geometric or artistic designs, but I also like solid colors and jeans. Usually, I look around to see what other people are wearing and adapt my style from that. I also like going into stores and taking note of patterns I like and when I have free time I work on making my own clothes and accessories.
CF: Why do you think it is important to develop your personal style in college?
MC: I think it is important to develop a personal style as a college student to stand out and get noticed by employers and to dress for success in your day. If you're dressed well, and you feel like a rock star, it is unlikely that anything will get you down!
How to: This look is all about layers. This Fashionista revamped a summer sundress to function as a winter skirt by layering it under her favorite cozy knit. Unisex sweaters are a great option when layering is a priority. This bright American Apparel sweater is a perfect option. Her grey leggings and boot socks add a little more depth to her outfit, perfecting her layering combination. Although socks can be purchased anywhere, these socks from J.Crew offer the perfect pop of color to peek out of your everyday black riding boots.
