Sometimes it is not always sunny in Southern California. But, damp weather doesn’t frighten a Fashionista. She simply puts on a blazer and gets on with her day. I love that this Fashionista choose to wear a muted pink blazer with striped lining on a dreary day. It’s a subtle, yet great, eye-catching piece and it goes great with her patterned oxfords and dark-washed jeans.
Name: Melissa Chambers
CollegeFashionista: Who, or what, influences your style?
Melissa Chambers: I like to emulate a lot of the looks that I see in Glamour or Teen Vogue because the outfits are always well put together and it makes it easier knowing what you need to buy when you do go shopping. My favorite stores are H&M and Forever 21 because they have well priced items that fit my budget. I also like to experiment and dabble in hipster fashion. Incorporating a certain piece from that specific style is fun, and these stores offer me the chance to do that without spending a ton.
CF: What’s a college-budget friendly piece that everyone should have in their closet?
MC: I think everyone should have either a great structured blazer or a gray sweater. These pieces are great to layer over anything: dresses, jeans, leggings etc.
CF: If you could raid anyone’s closet, whose would it be?
MC: I would raid the closets of the girls from Pretty Little Liars, especially Aria’s! Aria’s outfits are absolutely amazing and I love her accessories.
CF: If you had to describe your style in three words what would they be?
MC: Classic, laid back and minimalist.
