As a student at a mid-size school, it is not uncommon for me to see many of the same people on a day-to-day basis. With that being said, I look forward to the days when I know I will be passing certain Fashionistas on my trek to class. This week's Fashionista is one of those ladies that I am always excited to see around campus, adorning the many drool-worthy pieces that make up her wardrobe. I don't know if I should be a little embarrassed or a extremely excited to admit that she has been my fashion crush here at Miami since my freshmen year. CollegeFashionista catches up with this trendsetter to find out what inspires her amazing style.
Name: McCall Barsamian
Major: Speech Pathology
CollegeFashionista: I'm obsessed with your style, how often do you get asked to dress your friends?
McCall Barsamian: (laughing) Everyday!
CF: How do you describe your personal style in 3 words?
MB: Edgy, vintage, and hipster.
CF: Where do you go for style inspiration?
MB: I really don't look at magazines or anything like that. I just make it up on my own.. It just happens in my mind.
CF: Where is your absolute favorite place to shop?
MB: It's called Aritzia. It's a boutique based out of Canada. They only have a few stores in the U.S.. I love that fact that it's unique and no one else has it. All of their items have a sense of edginess to them. They are high-fashion pieces but still wearable. Shout out to Jillian Harris on the bachelor. The store dressed her the entire season.
CF: What is your favorite item that you own?
MB: That changes all the time. Currently my favorite item that I own is my over-the knee, brown boots that I'm wearing today. I love the earthy color.
CF: Last minute you decide to go to a party with your friends and have 5 minutes to get ready. What do you put on?
MB: My leather shorts with tights, a crop top and a blazer. Shoes always vary!
CF: What style advice can you give college students to develop their own personal style?
MB: I never pay attention to what people think about my outfits. If no one likes what I put on it doesn't matter to me. I would say, wear what you like and pay no attention to the opinion of others. You know what looks best on yourself!
