This week’s Fashionista was spotted among the crowds of students heading to class because of her unique sense of style; it seems to combine whimsical bohemian with elegant sophistication. At first glance, this Fashionista’s outfit is class and internship appropriate with a flattering, high-waisted skirt and a classic, boat neck T-shirt. While zipper accents are common, this skirt showed a new twist with the zipper running the entire length of the front of the skirt — a feature that added a spunky twist to an otherwise conservative piece. The rich, earth-like tones of this Fashionista’s outfit took center stage with her TOMS shoes. An intricate weaving of beige, kelly green and burgundy added a boho edge to an overall classy outfit, revealing another side to this Fashionista’s style personality.
Name: Maggie Sheridan
Major: Communications and Sociology
CollegeFashionista: How would you describe your personal style?
Maggie Sheridan: I don’t tend to follow trends; instead, I like to think my style is classic. I am not much of a risk taker, but instead like to focus on keeping things fashionable and timeless.
CF: Who are your fashion influences?
MS: My friends are a big influence and I tend to draw ideas from their different sense of styles. I am also a city girl and the street style in Boston and New York provides a lot of inspiration.
CF: What are your current favorite trends?
MS: I love peplum shirts that use color blocking. They can add a feminine touch and a pop of color when paired with nice jeans. I also love all the colors for the fall season, like the burgundy and olive green.
CF: What is a staple piece in your wardrobe?
MS: My belts and TOMS are probably the two most important pieces in my closet. I think pretty much any outfit can be enhanced with a wide, statement belt. I also just got my new TOMS and love the comfortable style mixed with the fun print.
CF: What are your favorite stores to shop in?
MS: Urban Outfitters, H&M and Forever 21 are some of my favorite stores. Recently, I have become obsessed with a Buffalo Exchange near campus, which is wear I got the skirt I am currently wearing!
