As fall break approaches, that means only one thing to most Villanova students: midterms. With cloudy skies and tests looming in the minds of all the students, it is sometimes hard to spot anything other than yoga pants and sweaters, which I am guilty of myself this week. But I spotted this Fashionista, who is luckily done with her midterms, and knew I had to stop her. Even in the haze of such a stressful week, she manages to pull together an easy but casual chic look that leaves those yoga pants in the dust.
Name: Lauren Woll
Major: Chemical Engineering
CollegeFashionista: What are you wearing this morning?
Lauren Woll: I’m wearing a chambray shirt from Forever 21 and the boots, skirt and scarf are all from Nordstrom.
CF: How would you describe your personal style?
LW: I’d say that my personal style is preppy with a little twist. I like taking classic pieces and adding big, fun jewelry and bright pops of color. I’m also a huge fan of wearing color all year round.
CF: What is your go-to piece in your closet?
LW: During the fall and winter my go-to piece would be the brown boots I’m wearing in the picture. They are tall so they can be worn as over the knee or they can be scrunched down. The color matches everything so they are super versatile.
How To: Adding a twist to a personal style is always the best way to adapt a style and make it your own. While this Fashionista adds a knitted scarf to her basic silhouette, another girl might want to add a button-down to her leather pants, like Kate Moss, to add structure to the normal edgy style the leather pants bring. Another example that is perfect for work or play is taking a classic Ralph Lauren blazer and pairing it with an Alice + Olivia leather skirt and booties as a cool juxtaposition. There are so many ways you can add your own twist, like this Fashionista did, to create your own signature style.
