As we enter into the winter, there is still some lingering warm weather, which gives these campus Fashionistas some time to bust out great fall pieces before everything is bundled up under layers of coats and sweaters. This Fashionista is taking advantage of the weather by sporting an adorable printed poncho.
Name: Kelly Anne
Major: Humanities and Classic Studies
CollegeFashionista: Why don’t you tell me about what you're wearing?
Kelly Anne: My poncho is a brand called Wilfred and it’s from Aritzia. My long sleeve shirt is Free People, my jeans are Marti White's (my generous roommate) and they're Citizens of Humanity. My boots are Steve Madden, my brown leather bag is J. Crew and my sunglasses are from the sale rack at Nordstrom.
CF: Who do you look to for style inspiration and why?
KA: Believe it or not, Kelly Osbourne. It’s been really cool seeing her style evolve. She dresses really classically but with a twist and always incorporates foreign trends, which I think is pretty admirable.
CF: If you had to pick one word to describe your personal style, what would it be and why?
KA: Random. I love finding clothing pieces in the most unexpected places and by unexpected brands of all different genres. It's almost like a challenge finding ways to put everything together until there's harmony.
CF: What is your favorite item in your closet for winter?
KA: Definitely my black Steve Madden boots. They're completely broken in and really versatile.
How To: The key to developing your own personal style is knowing how to wear your statement pieces. You can’t wear all of them at once. This Fashionista is showing off her poncho. Rosie Huntington-Whitley is sporting a pair of floral pants as her statement item. A high fashion way to rock the statement piece is Sarah Jessica Parker and her lace Minnie Mouse ears. Granted, they were for a themed party, but it just goes to show you that there are numerous ways to rock a statement item.
