Sometimes, less is more. Whenever I am unsure about what to wear I always turn to my basics: a white V-neck, dark wash jeans and my Steve Madden leopard flats to spice it up. So I was thrilled to see someone embracing simplicity as much as I do. It was questionable whether or not it was going to rain that day, so this Fashionista threw on a pair of Hunter wellies and hit the pavement for class. With the humid, warm weather around, a sweater or jacket was not necessary and the V-neck filled the void perfectly.
Name: Katie Eckert
Major: Community Health
CollegeFashionista: Where do you rely on for your basics?
Katie Eckert: I love H&M and Zara for solid basics. They aren’t too overpriced so I get a good fit and quality without spending too much money.
CF: How would you describe your personal style?
KE: I would say I like the classics with a little modern twist. I like to add modern flare to my classic wardrobe.
CF: What is your go-to basic staple?
KE: Definitely my jewelry. I love my two rings that I am wearing as well as my silver bangle I have had since I was a kid.
How To: When wearing the basics, it is good to invest in them. I always splurge on the basics because it is what I wear the most and longest. Many may make fun of me for spending $70 on a white V-neck, but little do they know that I will have it forever. Take the Alexander Wang basic white T-shirt. Most would never spend that much on a T-shirt but you know if you buy it, you will have it forever. Sometimes it’s worth the splurge.
