Fashionista Spotlight

As the semester winds down and studying for exams become our number one priority (aside from making a Christmas list), some Fashionistas might find it appropriate to take a break from style and succumb to sweatpants. This Fashionista flaunts her favorite basics by jazzing them up with studded boots. She gives a perfect example of how to rock the runway, even when you're spending the night studying at the library.

Name: Jordan Stacks

Year: Sophomore

Major: Operations Management

CollegeFashionista:What are you wearing/where did you get it?

Jordan Stacks: My paisley silk scarf that I am wearing as a headband is from a shop in Italy. My blue jean button-down is from Forever 21. My earrings are from Charlotte Russe. My purse is by Gucci and my studded combat boots are from Steve Madden.

CF: What was your inspiration behind your look?

JS: Today I wasn’t inspired by anything in particular, but I would say I was going for a comfy-chic look. Between going to class, meetings and catching up with my friends I really don’t have a lot of time to sit around and plan out my outfits every day. When I actually do put effort into my outfits for class days, I usually pick out my more comfortable clothing items first then try to add hints of my personal style with my accessories. I try to make it my goal to look cute with minimal effort every morning.

CF: How would you describe your personal style and where do you gather fashion inspiration?

JS: One word to describe my personal style is eclectic. I tend to dress by my mood. Sometimes I like to dress girly chic with statement headbands and very feminine, tailored, and classic pieces inspired by some of my favorite style icons like Audrey Hepburn, Blair Waldorf off of Gossip Girl or Olivia Palermo. Then another day I might dress more indie and bohemian like Serena Van Der Woodsen, Kate Moss, or Kylie Jenner with wearing layers, and accessorizing with cute boots and eccentric accessories. I also draw style inspiration from watching runway shows of some of my favorite designers such as Alice & Olivia, Marc Jacobs, Marchesa, Rachel Zoe etc.

CF:As a college student why do you think it is important to develop your personal style, what do you think your style says about you?

JS: I think personal style is a great way to express who you are as a person. College is a time for young people to discover who they really are, and I think that fashion is a great outlet for self-expression. I think my personal style says that I’m confident.

To do: This look is all about the accessories, Every girl owns a pair of black skinny jeans and a chambray button down. Add your own personal flair by pairing your favorite basics with a funky shoe. This Fashionista chose a studded boot from Steve Madden. Isabel Marant wedge sneakers or leopard print flats would also work to your toes stand out. Lastly, swap out your everyday backpack with an oversized tote. This is an easy way to make a look your own. Her's is Gucci, but really anythign will do. You could even break out your free Victorias Secret tote no one ever knows what to do with in honor of the recent VS fashion show.
