FASHIONISTA SPOTLIGHT: Courtney Galante

Fashionista Spotlight

The textbooks and notes have been burned, quizzes—so long, 8 a.m. no longer exists and neither do to-do lists. What hasn’t left Temple University, or this fabulous city, is fashion. This week’s and p.s.—my last—Fashionista proves despite the ending of semesters, true passion prevails. I happened to come across a true Fashionista currently interning with a fashion public relations firm in center city while preparing for her summer in Boston working for TJX! Fashion is her true passion and even though there are far less fellow students around to impress, the only one she dresses for is herself.

Name: Courtney Galante

Major: Marketing

Year: Senio

CollegeFashionista: So why still dress this intense and fantastic when there are not as many people near campus to witness?

Courtney Galante: Well I don’t get up in the morning and think about who’s going to like my outfit. My friends all get me, so they always like what I wear. And as Betsey Johnson herself said, “Girls do not dress for boys. They dress for themselves, and of course each other. If we dressed for boys, we’d just walk around naked all the time.”

CF: What are you wearing here Courtney?

CG:  My shell top is from H&M, the button-down is by Kenneth Cole, my skinny trousers are from LOFT, both my clutch and pumps are by Nine West, the hat is from a thrift store and my gloves and scarf are both from Aldo. Oh and of course the rose gold watch is by my boo- Michael Kors.

CF: How do you plan to dress accordingly for the holidays?

CG: Patterns upon patterns! Something like a patterned dress with patterned tights are trending this season. Velvet is also on my must wear list. And what’s more holiday than velvet?

CF: Who are your favorite designers?

CG: Stella, Lela Rose, of course Michael Kors and Helmut Lang.

CF: Do you have any tips for fellow Fashionistas?

CG: Main thing-—follow your dream! My dream just so happens to be fashion, so this is fitting. Also, just dress for yourself wearing what screams you. I’m sure everyone says this, but not everyone actually listens. Do it and see how different you look and feel!

How To: This Fashionista caught my eye with all her added touches that accessorized her outfit. To imitate my Fashionista’s look try hair accessories from NASTY GAL, bags and clutches from J.Crew and heals from ASOS!
