Happy Holidays Fashionistas! I hope you all got what you wanted from your fashion Christmas lists. After all the holiday meals and party extravaganzas, we all could use a little uplifting to ring in the New Year. Take note from this Fashionista and get a cape. I’m not talking about a cape like Superman’s. Inspire your style and trade in your bulky winter coat for a cozy and chic cape.
Name: Caitlyn Gallip
Major: Magazine Journalism
College Fashionista: Describe your wardrobe today.
Caitlyn Gallip: It's my first day of work interning at a magazine so I wanted to be professional but still fashion forward. My green cape has been one of the best investments I've ever made. People constantly stop and tell me they love it. I definitely have a classic style. I love pairing bright things, like this dress, with neutrals.
CF: You’ve just moved to New York City for the winter break. How is fashion here different from the Midwest?
CG: There is a lot more freedom to wear whatever you want. You pass so many people everyday and you see some of the wildest things. Fashion in New York is about trying new trends, trying something new and not caring what other people may think.
CF: Who are your favorite designers?
CG: Alexander McQueen, Marc Jacobs, Rodarte and I will have a forever love affair with Betsy Johnson.
CF: Any fashion New Year’s resolutions?
CG: To not cave into fast fashion sales as much.
CF: What style advice would you give to other Fahsionistas out there?
CG: Invest in quality clothing, dont spend much on wild trends and always love what you do.
How To: Swipe this Fashionista’s style by trying on a simple dress with a pattern that suits your taste. It’s cold out there so add some solid tights and a pair of flats. Finish your ensemble by putting on your cape and feel a little extra fashionably super!
