For days when I am rolling out of bed for an 8 a.m., stumbling to find something to wear, a chunky cardigan is my best friend. Let's be realistic, even us Fashionista's pull all-nighters for midterms and sometimes don't have time to plan out the perfect outfit. There is just something about a grandpa-esque sweater that, without fail, adds that “something extra” to a lacklust ensemble. I spotted this Fashionista rocking her oversized cardi with leopard print booties and an adorable graphic printed totebag and had to get her take on her favorite fall trends.
Name: Ashley Cole
CollegeFashionista: I love your sweater! Wear did you get your outfit?
Ashley Cole: Cardigan is thrifted, skirt is from Urban Outfitters, my shirt is fromo Hollister, my bag is thrifted and my shoes are from Target.
CF: What inspired your comfortable look this afternoon?
AC: I dress according to my mood. Today I wanted to feel girly but comfy at the same time and this weather gave me the perfect opportunity to do so.
CF: How are you accommodating your fall style with this Tuscaloosa heat?
AC: It is really hard to really get into the fall mood with this heat, but I try to layer as best as possible. High-waisted shorts with thigh highs, booties, cardigans, and light scarfs have been my best friend. It is fun when you actually get to layer and not worry about burning up.
CF: What fall trend are you most excited to sport once the weather cools down?
AC: I can't wait to wear my colored jeans, furs, trench coats, studded jackets and my favorite Cosby sweaters.
How to: This look is a great way to highlight your favorite chunky knit and a great bootie. Keep your bottom layers basic. American Apparel is a great place to shop for quality basics like this Fashionista's black skirt and white tank. When it comes to oversized cardigans, your local thrift store is probably the best option. Look for one with a bright pattern to really make a statement with your otherwise neutral outfit. Top the look off with a bootie of your choice. I am partial to this Fashionista's leopard print option, leopard is a neutral in my book and adds a little glam to any look.
