Couldn’t go to Coachella to witness all the amazing festival fashion? No problem! Inject some festival style into your own daily campus-wear like this Fashionista and breeze through your campus singing a happy song. Alexa Yoshimoto’s style instantly reminded me of all the photos of hippie-chic trends I gaped at online over the weekend. Alexa’s style is effortless and festival-ready, but she also makes sure to keep it appropriate for school by throwing on a denim vest over her cropped top.
Name: Alexa Yoshimoto
CollegeFashionista: What is your personal style?
Alexa Yoshimoto: My style is vintage. I like to have pieces that other people don’t have. I work at Zara so I also get to keep an eye on all the trends coming in.
CF: What is your favorite fashion trend?
CF: Any fashion tip you’d like to share with other students?
AY: Fashion isn’t about putting on 30 items together. It is better to keep it simple and focus on a few key pieces.
CF: Where do you get your style inspiration?
AY: I am always on LOOKBOOK.nu because I am inspired by all the street style looks. I really like Alexa Chung’s tomboyish and casual style, but then I also like Zooey Deschanel’s look which is totally opposite of Alexa Chung’s style. I think my personal style is a middle ground of their styles.
How To: I’ve been raving about maxi skirts and dresses all this semester, and if you’ve been obeying my posts then you’d definitely have at least one version of them in your closet by now. For Alexa’s black pleated maxi skirt, check out this Sparkle & Fade Maxi Pleated Chiffon Skirt at Urban Outfitters. To prepare for the upcoming heat wave in SoCal, go for a whimsical top like this Free People Eyelet Paper Hearts top. It is great to pair with cut-off shorts or chiffon skirts. A denim vest can add an edgy look to your outfit without being too grungy. Finish off your look with some vintage-inspired bracelets and a distressed bag for the ultimate festival-worthy outfit for school.
