Jaquelin Dianne , SCAD
I’m in my final stretch of college, finishing up my senior year at Savannah College of Art and Design where I am majoring in Fashion Marketing. This is my second semester as a Style Guru and I look forward to featuring the most inspiring students from SCAD’s Atlanta campus. It’s both scary and exciting to think that my life is going to be completely different in a few months. Post graduation I hope to see myself as an established blogger, constantly creating a variety of new and edgy content. In addition to fashion, I love photography, particularly analogue photography. I love to style models and shoot them with Lomography cameras or with my 3-D camera. I have a strong interest in making work specifically meant to be viewed on the internet, so I’m frequently experimenting with various media.
While I have many interests, fashion definitely reigns supreme in my mind as it is the first thing I think about in almost every situation. I love how expressive it can be, how unavoidable it is, and how much still has yet to be done. Everyone participates in fashion, whether they are making a conscious effort or not; it’s an art form that we all partake in daily. It’s always interesting to see what people make of it.
My personal favorite styles are the extreme looks which push boundaries and test out things we haven’t seen before. I especially love seeing looks inspired by geometry, nudity and electricity. I’ve also recently developed an interest in skate culture as it relates to fashion. In general I love learning about the lifestyles associated with fashion trends, especially when music is involved. I think one main reason why I never get bored of fashion is because I see it as so much more than clothing. Just about any subject you can think of is tied to fashion: business, religion and culture. It’s everywhere and completely inescapable. I definitely made the right decision when I chose to study the subject. People are always asking me, “What can do with that degree?” and it always seems like such a silly question to me, because I can do anything with it.
