FASHIONISTA SPOTLIGHT: Whitney Vaccaro

Fashionista Spotlight

Although this Fashionista clarified that she was on her way to “twerk,” not work, her ensemble definitely exudes class. This Fashionista is an avid Pinner and says she often finds herself scrolling through her Pinterest feed during class for style inspiration. (Shhh!)

I knew this Fashionista was a great little fashion discovery, especially when a girl ran up to her mid-interview and said, “I just wanted to tell you that your outfit is so cute!”

Name: Whitney Vaccaro

Major: Kinesiology

Year: Sophomore

CollegeFashionista: Tell us more about what you’re wearing.

Whitney Vaccaro: My dress and necklace are both from Charming Charlie. The dress was $12.99, and the necklace was $7.99. These shoes were originally $74, and I got them on sale for $43 from Marshalls. My blue stone ring is from Etsy, and the gold ring is from Jean Therapy. My purse is from the Stella & Dot trunk show. I’m wearing Ray-Bans, too.

CF: What influences your style?

WV: I like solid colors because I feel like I can mix and match those more easily than patterns. Patterns give me anxiety sometimes. I like to dress up solids with jewelry. And for my hair I love the ‘70s look—smooth, long and wavy.

CF: Who do you look to for style inspiration?

WV: Kourtney and Khloé Kardashian. I love them. They dress really professionally, but they also make it look fun.

CF: What’s your favorite thing in your closet?

WV: My favorite accessory is this diamond ring. I feel naked when I don’t wear it. It was my mom’s senior ring, and it brings me good luck. My mom is very smart lady, and I feel like it gives me knowledge and intelligence. I also love these booties. They’ve been with me through a lot—my ups, my downs, my partying, my chilling and whatnot.

How To: I never would have guessed that this Fashionista’s black mini shift dress cost less than $15. Look for solid colors when you’re bargain shopping. Obnoxious prints can cheapen the look of any piece of clothing, even if it was super expensive. Follow Whitney’s lead and spice up your simple dresses or tops with statement necklaces, bracelets and rings. Add a few waves in your hair for an extra flirty look!
