As the onset of fall quarter approaches here in San Diego, Triton girls like me lament the loss of time to put effort into our everyday style choices. Classes and late night study sessions make that kind of commitment nearly impossible. Goodbye put together outfits and hello jeans and the occasional sweatpants, right? But who says a girl can’t be both academically dedicated and stylish? This Fashionista proves that it is absolutely possible. Between hours at the lab and endless lectures, she finds time to add a little oomph to her personal style. Spotted wearing a blush circle skirt, a chic black tank and adorable booties, this Fashionista embodies someone on top of both their fashion and academic games.
Name: Valerie Khaw
College Fashionista: What are you wearing and where is it from?
Valerie Khaw: I am wearing a black tank top and light pink skirt from Brandy Melville, booties from Nordstrom, a bralette from Urban Outfitters and Chanel sunglasses.
CF: How would you describe your personal style?
VK: I would call it cute and comfy! I love simple things that look and feel effortless. I especially love skirts because they are feminine and comfortable.
CF: Who is your celebrity fashion icon, and why?
VK: I actually don’t have a celebrity fashion icon, I don’t think. I really draw inspiration from my friends and how they dress. They all have different and unique style and they always remain on trend, so I try to follow that.
CF: What trends are you most excitable about for Fall?
VK: Leggings and boots, definitely!
How To: To borrow this Fashionista’s oh so chic look, start with a high-waisted skirt in a pastel color of your choice. Then, go ahead and tuck in a loose fitting tank top of a darker color. Basic black is classic! Next, grab a pair of booties in cognac or light brown. Finish off the look with a black purse and your favorite pair of sunnies!
