One thing Hampton University students can unanimously agree on is how beautiful our campus is during the springtime. Everything from the waterfront scenery to the bloomed flowers on the trees is surely a sight to see. The only thing just as lovely as the scenery is the springtime fashion of our students. This Fashionista’s outfit just exclaims spring! Her floral skater skirt brings the perfect amount of color to her all black ensemble. I’ve seen this Fashionista in class, week after week, pulling off an effortlessly chic look. This nice weather is just in time for her feature as this week’s Fashionista.
Name: Tinika Edwards
Major: Public Relations
CollegeFashionista: How would you describe your personal style?
Tinika Edwards: People have always told me that I dress very “princess-y.” I always have to have jewelry, a purse or some type of accessory. Though sometimes I like to toughen my look up a bit, like pairing a flirty skirt with a rocker jacket.
CF: Where are your favorite places to shop?
TE: I do a lot of online shopping, so stores like ASOS, ShopStyle and GoJane. When I actually go shopping in the stores, it’s usually at H&M, Forever 21, Nordstrom and Macy’s.
CF: What are your favorite spring trends of the moment?
TE: Definitely the skater skirt! I also love long dresses and maxi skirts with the slits on the sides.
CF: Whose closet would you love to raid and why?
TE: Kim Kardashian’s pre-pregnancy wardrobe! She’s definitely evolved in her style and I feel like I’ve evolved as well as the years have gone by. She has a very classic look and I love how her outfits are put together.
CF: How do you believe your style has evolved over the years?
TE: I think my style has evolved a lot because I used to not really care as much about the outfits I put together. Now I view fashion to have much more of a purpose in my life.
How To: Fell in love with this Fashionista’s springtime look? To put together a similar outfit, pair a plain black T-shirt with a floral skater skirt. If it happens to be a little bit chilly outside, throw on a light black jacket. Complete the look with black flats and an oversized bag.
