If there is one trend that doesn’t make sense, but I just can’t get mad about, is the pajama trend. It is now acceptable to actually walk around the city in your pajamas! If Marc Jacobs says it’s ok, then it must be true. I mean, why hasn’t this been thought of before? Can cookies and milk be an accessory? Not only is it super comfortable, but it can also be super stylish as well. You know there are those times when you have to go to class, but you just want to roll out of bed with what you have on. Well, here is the chance to do just that. This Fashionista is sporting a sexier version of the pajama trend with a 1940s lingerie top over a pair of shorts. Just try not to fall asleep in class; I’m sure your professor will not be too happy about that.
Name: Taylor Selbe
Major: Art and Business
CollegeFashionista: What are you wearing and where did you get it from?
Taylor Selbe: This shirt I actually got from an antique mall back from home. It is from the 1940s and it is lingerie. I figured I could wear it as a shirt with a bandeau underneath it and my earrings are from Hot Topic. My shoes are knock-off Toms, which were from the dollar store, and my shorts are from my roommate, which I just borrowed.
CF: Do you normally borrow a lot of clothes from your roommate?
TS: Yeah, I don’t really buy new clothes just because they can be expensive. My roommate and I are the exact same size, so we just share our clothes.
CF: What are you looking forward to for the summer time?
TS: Oh my gosh. I can wear a whole bunch of crop tops. I am so excited because wearing them to class can mean the teachers give you weird looks.
CF: How would you style a crop top?
TS: I am really not into the high-waisted shorts. I don’t do that, but I really like the low-rise shorts with a chunky necklace. You kind of will look casual, but look like you put the time into it with the accessories.
CF: Do you believe that accessories can really change an outfit?
TS: Yes, definitely, because you can wear a solid color shirt, but if you have an awesome necklace, than it is fine.
How To: When it comes to this trend, less is more. Wear a pair of pajama bottoms with a button-up top, roll up the sleeves and open up the collar. You can wear heels with this or some awesome loafers. For another outfit, dress up this pajama top with a pencil skirt and a pair of heels. These looks are perfect for weekend wear on the town, or hanging at home on the couch with a pint of ice cream. I’m leaning toward the ice cream.
