There is no denying this Fashionista looks amazing in her breezy, statement-making pants. An effortlessly concocted ensemble leads with one statement piece and is accompanied by neutrals and a natural beauty. This Fashionista shows the perfect way to let the pants do all the work.
Name: Taylor Pennington
Major: Fashion Design
CollegeFashionista: Describe what you’re wearing and where you got it.
Taylor Pennington: The outfit I’m wearing is a simple white tank with a pair of flowy patterned pants, which are probably my absolute favorite article of clothing. I got them both in a boutique in Panama City Beach, Florida.
CF: How would you describe your personal style and where do you get inspiration?
TP: My personal style is a lot of mixing and matching. I think fashion is a way to express yourself and who you are as a person. Mixing patterns and colors is probably one of my favorite things to do. It can even speak your emotions, like one day I will feel preppy or the next day I will feel edgy, so I think fashion is a way to express who you are.
CF: If you could swap wardrobes with one celebrity who would it be and why?
TP: If I could swap wardrobes with one celebrity it would be Lauren Conrad, because of her unique, classy style that still has a fun side to it. Lauren Conrad is a fashion icon, and I look at her for inspiration.
CF: What is your most cherished item of clothing in your wardrobe?
TP: The most cherished item of clothing that I have is my simple black blazer. With a black blazer you can change a whole outfit and can look sophisticated.
CF: What trend are you dying to try now that the weather is warming up?
TP: As I said earlier, mixing patterns and colors are my favorite thing, and since it’s spring time, it’s becoming very popular. So that trend is definitely on my mind 24/7 because I think it is such a bold step to do. There are a lot of cute patterned wedges that will be perfect for mixing with other colors and patterns.
CF: What advice do you have for other campus Fashionistas when dressing for those early spring days?
TP: The only advice I have is that this is the time that we, as young adults, are all in our prime and thus to wear what we want. My fashion teacher always told me, what you wear is how you present yourself. Because you never know who you may meet or run into, you should dress up and have fun!
How to: This Fashionista paired her pretty pants with a simple white blouse and gold sandals. This pair of silk drawstring pants by Emilio Pucci are to die for, but not realistic for the average college gal. Forever 21 has a few aztec harem pants options for Fashionistas on a budget.
