FASHIONISTA SPOTLIGHT: Taylor Herlong

Fashionista Spotlight

Tall, beautiful and charismatic are just a few words I could describe about this Fashionista. While I have worked with many Fashionistas/os on campus, I had never met someone that shined with radiance and poise. Surprisingly, I found out that this Fashionista was one of South Carolina’s pageant girls; no wonder she could light up a room in just an instance! One of the reasons I love interning for CollegeFashionista is meeting people with exceptional styles and lots of humility.

Name: Taylor Herlong

Major: Broadcast Journalism

Year: Junior

CollegeFashionista: What inspires your style?

Taylor Herlong: I like to think that several things inspire my style. It mostly depends on my mood that day and what’s in style. I also like to browse Pinterest to see what wardrobe ideas others have come up with and emulate ideas that I like while also adding my own twist.

CF: How would you describe your style?

TH: I like to mix things up so I wouldn’t say that I have one particular style. One day, I am more of a bohemian chic kind of girl and the next, sophisticated and classy; however, having lived in the South all my life, my style always includes some type of country chic influence.

CF: How has your style evolved over the years?

TH: My style has evolved to basically become more of my own. In high school, I was more concerned with having the brand name items that all look JUST ALIKE. I’ve learned to look for items that better fit me and my personality. Now, I look for the fabrics and colors that I actually like. Not the ones I think I need because everyone else has. This usually means not having to pay department store prices, which is always a plus!

CF: What would you never be caught wearing?

TH: I would never be caught wearing jeans with holes in them, leggings as pants or oversized T-shirts.

CF: What are your wardrobe staples?

TH: I have a few key colors that I usually steer towards when I am shopping. I like to buy a lot of nudes and corals, so, I would say those are my two go to colors. I could never do without skinny-leg jeans and riding boots in the winter and fall or sun dresses and flip flops in the spring and summer.

How To: This Fashionista wears a gorgeous red peacoat with simple jeans and a pair of cowboy boots. Go with a coat that helps accentuate your figure. Then add some blue skinny jeans with a taupe colored cowboy boots. Lastly add some jewelry to make this look your own!
