I love seeing Fashionistas/os mix trends! It makes me feel challenged and eager to hit my closet and see what I can’t mix and match. This Fashionista is riding the ’90s trend with this vintage shirt that just peeks through her jean jacket. With the addition of a classic maxi and jacket, she makes the shirt the center of attention.Adding this unique piece makes her outfit stand out from the rest, and maybe she spent a lot of money on it, maybe she didn’t! I love this trend because it is can be very inexpensive and no one has to know.
Name: Taylor Cavanaugh
Major: Fashion Merchandising
CollegeFashionista: How would you describe your style?
Taylor Cavanaugh: I like a lot of maxi anything. Flowy tops, dresses and skirts are my favorite. I would also say my style is classic vintage, with pearls!
CF: What is your must-have right now?
TC: Fall boots most definitely!
CF: Where do you get your inspiration?
TC: I do a lot of browsing on Pinterest. I also play off of the styles I see at Maurice’s, where I work. We are required to wear the latest fashions from the store when we work, so I like to play with what’s just come in.
CF: What is your favorite piece from your wardrobe?
TC: I have a favorite Aztec style sweater that I love to pair with scarves and boots! It’s very versatile and comfortable for winter. It’s just waiting for me in my closet!
How To: This ’90s vintage trend is very prominent in fashion nowadays. You can’t really go wrong with a couple vintage staples in your closet, whether you got it at a local store, or your local thrift shop! To get this Fashionista’s look I would say ladies, don’t be afraid to peek in the guys department! Collared button-downs in the guys department like this one are great at stores like Urban Outfitters. Taylor would also like this vintage maxi dress that she could also wear with her classic jean jacket. So whether you go thrifting or hit the big stores, shopping for those vintage staples should be a blast.
