Name: Taryn Horacek
CollegeFashionista: What inspires your look?
Taryn Horacek: I like romantic, feminine looks. I used to own a vintage store so anything vintage-inspired—that kind of really like old inspiration but modern fit kind of thing.
CF: So do you like thrift shopping?
TH: I love thrift shopping. I do a lot in Orange and Tustin—all of the charity thrift stores have really good finds because a lot of people don’t go there. So it’s going to the ones that are out of the way.
CF: What’s the best thing that you’ve found?
TH: A cashmere sweater from the ‘50s—it’s all black with a big fox-fur collar. It’s incredible.
CF: Do you have any favorite summer trends?
TH: I’m loving wedges and I’m trying to get into maxi dresses. I think they look beautiful on other people, but being really tall it’s hard to find long enough ones. Just really like, dresses that you can throw on, like this one where you just put it on—no pants. I hate wearing pants. My favorite summer trend is not wearing pants.
CF: Do you have a trend that you don’t like?
TH: Personally I don’t like rompers, just on me. I think some people can pull them off really great, but they’re really hard to get right. So if you can, good for you.
How To: Feminine and romantic elements comprise this look. Lace embodies both of these descriptors, therefore making it easy to create a similar outfit. Try pairing a whimsical, lace dress with a simple hairstyle such as a braid or loose chignon with face-framing pieces. To help ground the delicate ensemble, wear a pair of lace-up booties like this Fashionista. Add a touch of pink to lips and cheeks to finish off the look.
