This Fashionista is ready for Spring Break! As students begin to head off to warmer places, I spotted this Fashionista already showing off her Spring Break 2013 look. While the weather in Iowa is nothing close to how warm it is in South Padre Island, Texas, it is however, warm enough to start bringing out some of your favorite spring pieces. I thought Sydney’s outfit was simply adorable and styling an outfit that includes polka-dot pants can be easier than you think.
Name: Sydney Arndt
Major: Pre-Med, Health and Human Physiology
CollegeFashionista: What are you wearing today?
Sydney Arndt: I am wearing Steve Madden flats, coral and polka-dot capri pants from Kohl’s, a crochet top from Four Seasons, a sweater from Forever 21 and I tied a coach scarf to this tan purse.
CF: How would you describe your personal style?
SA: My style is more casual but with a bigger city outlook on it. I wear a lot of darker colors, so I would say I have a New York style.
CF: What is one item in your closet that you cannot live without?
SA: My black military peacoat from Guess and I have a pair of nude Jessica Simpson heels that I love.
CF: What/whom do you look to for inspiration for your style?
SA: I like to look through People’s Style Watch and Glamour magazine; they ask people off the street what they are wearing and I like that. I also like Hayden Panettiere’s style because we’re similar in size, so a lot of the stuff that she wears I think is really cute.
CF: Where are your favorite places to shop?
SA: I love Express and Forever 21, but the best places I go are Kohl’s and JCPenney. It’s surprising, but you get cute and cheap stuff there.
How To: Start with a pair of attention-grabbing pants, such as these paisley ankle jeans from American Eagle Outfitters. Wear a neutral colored top to tone down the busyness of the pants. Tie a printed scarf to one of your favorite basic bags to add a dash of color to your accessories.
