FASHIONISTA SPOTLIGHT: Susan Sorensen

Fashionista Spotlight

There is something about the holidays that just gets people in the mood. Usually, it means that friends and family come together after being apart and you get to eat the most amazing food. Valentines Day, on the other hand, is solely based on the idea of love. Whether you decide to celebrate by going out for the night with your significant other or hanging with your friends, just remember to have fun with your outfit! And who cares if your significant other for the night is Ryan Gosling. In your mind, he has been your boyfriend for the past five years. What he doesn’t know won’t kill him. This Fashionista inspired me with the idea of wearing polka-dots on this special day.

Name: Susan Sorensen

Major: Anthropology

Year: Freshman

CollegeFashionista: What are you wearing and where did you get it from?

Susan Sorensen: Actually my shirt, my sweater, my belt and even my shoes are from Goodwill. My shorts and backpack are from Urban Outfitters.

CF: Do you know what you are going to be wearing or doing or Valentines Day?

SS: My boyfriend and I are going to go strawberry picking during the day and then at night we are going to go to Texas de Brazil. I got a really cute dress from American Apparel; it’s like a velvet red dress, but I’m not sure what shoes just yet.

CF: What is it about the holidays that make people feel they need to dress up?

SS: Uh, I dunno! It’s kinda a special occasion. For me, it’s an excuse to wear something cute, but it’s just nice to have something to look forward to and get dressed up for.

How To: You don’t just have to feel girly in polka-dots. If you are going out with your boyfriend, try this sexy number, which has sheer polka-dotted shoulders. Accessorize it with a pair of tights, black heels and a nice coat. Don’t be surprise when your boyfriend won’t be able to take his eyes off of you. During the day, wear this adorable coral polka-dotted sweater; its perfect to pair with a leather skirt or colored jeans. Just have some sort of collar popping out; try a chambray shirt or a sequence collar. Even though Valentines Day is about showing others the love you have for them, don’t forget to show yourself some love as well!
