Spring has finally sprung and the wardrobes on campus are beginning to reflect the change to warmer weather. But what is the perfect spring outfit without the help of some killer accessories? I spotted this Fashionista’s bling and it was instantly clear she knew how to accessorize in style. Jewelry, headbands, hats, belts and handbags are all the perfect add-ons to take an outfit to the next level this spring.
Name: Stephanie Melnick
Major: Fashion Merchandising
CollegeFashionista: What are you wearing today?
Stephanie Melnick: Today I am wearing my favorite Ralph Lauren button-down, dark wash denim jeans and my new bubble necklace that I absolutely love! Oh, and Steve Madden wedges!
CF: What is your favorite way to accessorize an outfit?
SM: My favorite way to accessorize an outfit would have to be with statement necklaces, small studs for earrings, my watch and my BCBG and Alex and Ani bracelets that I wear every day. I also like to add a large ring or two and three bracelets on my opposite hand.
CF: What stores would you suggest to fellow Fashionistas for accessory shopping?
SM: I work at an accessory store called Charming Charlie and that’s where basically all my jewelry is from. They have everything from purses to jewelry to scarves and it is so reasonably priced! I also like looking for pieces wherever I go, like Francesca’s Collections, and if I find it, I buy it!
CF: Who is your style icon?
SM: My style icons are Blake Lively and Leighton Meester. I have loved them since the beginning of Gossip Girl, and their effortless but chic style is very appealing to me. They always have such statement pieces and unique clothing on, and I would love to take a walk through their closets.
CF: What is your favorite spring accessories trend?
SM: Statement necklaces and the infamous arm party. I love the pastel colors that are really in for spring like mint green and coral. I think every Fashionista should own accessories and not be afraid to rock them by incorporating them into their everyday style.
How To: To pull off this Fashionista’s spring look, first start off with a pastel button-down. Add any pair of tight denim jeans but a darker wash is preferred. Next, break out those wedges that you’ve been waiting all winter to wear! Keep the colors in a neutral palette so that they can match nearly any outfit. Last, accessories are definitely a key component to creating this look. Try a big statement necklace, a few bracelets, a watch, chunky rings and a cool pair of shades.
