Students at The College of New Jersey have been enjoying warmer temperatures around campus all week since the arrival of the spring season. I spotted this Fashionista using the unusually warm weather as an excuse to break out a white sleeveless peplum top with a pop of color from her pastel statement necklace. As soon as I spotted her in this springtime outfit, I had to stop her and ask about it.
Name: Stephanie DiIonno
Major: Elementary Education and Psychology
CollegeFashionista: Tell me about what you’re wearing today.
Stephanie DiIonno: My jeggings are from H&M, my shirt and statement necklace are from Forever 21 and my combat boots are from DSW!
CF: Which season is your favorite to dress for?
SD: Spring, because I can finally wear less clothing! I like the colors used in spring clothing collections and I like not having to be so bundled up all the time. Dressing for the springtime always makes me happy, and gets me feeling ready for the summer. I feel like spring is the season that allows me to be the most creative with my wardrobe.
CF: What are some styles that you’re excited to wear this spring?
SD: I’m looking forward to wearing skirts and sundresses! I’m all about no pants; I actually hate wearing pants! I love it when I can finally dress in cute and breezy skirts instead.
CF: Who is your style icon?
SD: Lauren Conrad! She always looks so cute and put-together, but never overdone. Her style is so classic. Her outfits are always very cute, classy and simple and that’s what I strive for when putting together my outfits.
How To: A statement necklace is an easy way to add a pop of color to any ensemble. This is especially true in the spring and summer months when you have fewer layers to work into your outfit. Try copying this Fashionista’s look by adding a pastel-colored statement necklace to an outfit that is made up of otherwise basic colors.
