Sometimes, you just don’t know what on earth to wear. The secret weapon: rompers. I can’t possibly think of anything easier (or cuter) to throw on and head out the door. Forget about the matching this with that and seeing what different options look best with what. Whoever invented this one and done ensemble is truly one of my fashion heroes.
Name: Soli Salgado
CollegeFashionista: Describe your personal style.
Soli Salgado: I’m from Argentina so I think a lot of my influences come from there. When I go there and there’s something new or exciting that I haven’t seen yet, I’m draw to that. I guess you could say my style is cultured.
CF: How would you describe Argentine fashion?
SS: Weirdly enough I feel like some trends show up there first, like jean vests or any of the grungier type of things, such as combat boots.
CF: Where do you find Argentine fashion in Lawrence?
SS: I think thrift stores like Wild Man Vintage are good places to find exciting things, whether it’s for costumes or just something for myself. Urban has more commercialized versions of what you could find in Argentina.
CF: How does being Argentinian influence your style?
SS: I never really thought it was interesting or anything until I was in a sorority and it made me realize it’s more different. When something’s in style everyone gets the same exact thing, whereas I prefer to have things that no one else has.
How to: Start with a floral jumpsuit that fits you just right, and be sure to add some denim into the mix as well. A rugged vest like this one, along with a bright cross-body bag will have you ready for summer in no time, just like this Fashionista.
