I caught this Fashionista hopping off the bus at Haggard Hall this morning. You don’t see many girls rocking a blazer on campus and she reminded me of how versatile a blazer can be and how it can tie any outfit together flawlessly. The tweed texture of the blazer contrasted pleasantly against the simple black jeans. Those studded buttons on her purple blouse were a great play on the stud trend which usually dominates the shoulder or collar areas of shirts.
Name: Shayne Smith
Major: Graphic Design with a Web Development Minor
CollegeFashionista: What are you wearing and where did you buy it all from?
Shayne Smith: I am wearing a tweed jacket from a thrift store with a silk purple blouse from Forever 21, fingerless gloves from H&M, PacSun Bullhead black pants (in my opinion the best brand for soft and comfortable skinny jeans) and black leather ankle boots with lace-sides from DSW. Also, I get most all of my jewelry from Etsy.
CF: What’s the easiest way to look stylish at school or work without looking like you’re trying too hard?
SS: Wear what you like and just make sure you’re comfortable. Even if your outfit may be a little dressed-up, if you are comfortable and confident then it is easy to rock your own style.
CF: How would you describe your sense of style?
SS: I love to wear silk blouses, some with interesting patterns, paired with ankle boots and tight pants. I also have a soft spot for lace, leather and menswear. I take inspiration from my own design work too. I guess I would describe my style as unique.
CF: What’s something on your wish list?
SS: I’m always on the lookout for interesting boots and jackets even though I own way too many jackets. I love thrift shopping as well as online stores like Nasty Gal and Tobi. But I still love shopping at Urban Outfitters and the simple Macy’s and Target.
CF: How would you transition this outfit for spring/summer?
SS: Roll up the sleeves on my tweed jacket and take off the hoodie and gloves. Or lose the jacket if it’s a nice sunny day.
CF: Song you have on repeat right now?
