While walking through campus it is hard not to notice all the brands featured on everyone. Hunter boots, Longchamp totes and North Face jackets are just some brand name items that have become very popular in Ann Arbor. However, if you want to establish a more individualistic style, you should be like this next Fashionista and shop vintage or used items. This Fashionista stands out among all the other Fashionistas I’ve previously interviewed because she is not interested in commercialized goods. Instead, her unique style comes from thrift shopping.
Name: Sasha Pfeiffer
CollegeFashionista: What are you wearing today?
Sasha Pfieffer: I’m wearing a pair of jeans, a black v-neck, leather booties and a beanie.
CF: What is your go-to item for chilly days?
SP: Well I’m not wearing it today, but a wool scarf I purchased from a shop called Kiwanis.
CF: What influences your style?
SP: I tend to stray away from things that already have an established connotation, so I stay away from brand names and buy from thrift shops instead.
CF: Where are your favorite places to shop?
SP: My sister’s closet, just kidding. I shop at a lot of thrift stores, like Salvation Army.
CF: What spring/summer trend are you looking most forward to?
SP: I’m looking forward to sundresses!
How To: If you’re looking to fill your closet with non-name brand items like this Fashionista does, try shopping on sites like ModCloth or Etsy. Though if you’re just interested in adopting this Fashionista’s look, you can find similar booties, beanie and jeans with these links.
