Colored pants seem to be increasing in popularity by the day. Whether they are boot-legged, corduroy, skinny or cropped, pants in all shades of the rainbow have been popping up on campuses and in stores across the country. Wearing pants that aren’t denim or a neutral color is one of the easiest ways to quickly change up an outfit and it can be done in any season. In the winter, royal blue, red and hunter green pants are great in heavier fabrics like corduroy, while cropped skinny jeans in colors like lilac and yellow are perfect in the spring. The red pants this Fashionista is sporting are balanced by a shirt, jacket and boots in neutral colors. Her cheetah ring and detailed earrings add more pop to her outfit without overpowering the brightness of her pants.
Name: Sarah Graver
CollegeFashionista: What do you think about when you get dressed in the morning?
Sarah Graver: As much as I would like to wear my PJs to class every day, I still want to look my best, so I try to dress for both comfort and style.
CF: What are you wearing today?
SG: I have on pants from J.C. Penney, a shirt and ring from Forever 21, a coat from H&M, the earrings are from a tiny boutique in Cape Cod and the boots are Rampage.
CF: What’s something that you have been wanting to incorporate into your style?
SG: A leather jacket! I just haven’t found the perfect one for me quite yet.
CF: What is your favorite accessory?
SG: I’m obsessed with stud earrings. I could literally spend $100 on just them in one shopping trip. I really like bigger ones, especially if they’re flowers.
How To: Wear a pair of pants in any style of your choosing in one of your favorite colors. If you choose pants in a fairly bold color, remember to keep the rest of your outfit fairly toned down. Layer a basic cotton shirt underneath a jacket, like this puffer one from Forever 21, and you’ll be set to battle the winter wind! For your shoes, you can wear boots, flats, sneakers — whatever you’re in the mood for! As a final touch, throw on a fun cocktail ring and some pretty earrings or a necklace.
