I know all of you lovely Fashionistas are pumped that fall is here, so this season take risks and play up the colors and fabrics of your ensemble! This week’s Fashionista is wearing a denim shirt and salmon-colored linen pants. I was so envious of her linen pants because she looked cute and comfortable — the best combination! I also loved how she paired the denim shirt with her pants to give the outfit even more texture. She added some gold shoes to this adorable outfit so she really stood out to people in passing. Feeling like you need a comfy day? Pass on those sweatpants and oversized hoodies and turn to linens!

CollegeFashionista: What are you wearing and where is it from?
Reine Hammonds: The denim shirt is from a consignment shop in Cleveland made by WWS Authentic 1967. The linen pants are from a fashion show I walked in. The brand is Love Tree.
CF: How would you describe your style?
RH: I like to be comfortable. I also choose to have messy hair. I feel like what naturally speaks to you is how one should dress because that is where you find the most comfort.
CF: If you could go on a shopping spree to any store, which would it be?
RH: Oooohh… American Apparel! Not only because of what’s on the shelves, but also because I know that they treat their employees well, there are no sweatshops.
CF: Describe some of the advice you give to people, being their personal shopper.
RH: I would tell them to not look at what’s hot and new. Local shops may have hidden treasures, as well as thrift stores. Also, body shape is important to consider. No matter the shape, there’s something out there to make you look hotter than the rest. Fashion is an expression of yourself — your personality should shine through.
How To: I’m sure you are all looking to copy this Fashionista’s style, so the easiest step is to own a denim shirt that you love. Denim shirts can go with anything from skirts to colored jeans; no need to shy away from them just because the denim on denim look is hideous. This fall, add a statement piece to your closet. Stand out on your campus and wear some linen pants. Pair some relaxed jewelry and shoes with this outfit and you’ve got a complete look from head to toe.
