FASHIONISTA SPOTLIGHT: Priyanjali Rajlaxmi Singh

Fashionista Spotlight

Coco Chanel revolutionized fashion with the LBD, or Little Black Dress, over seven decades ago, but it is still the most coveted piece of clothing for every girl. While most of us treat the LBD as evening wear, a few of us try and experiment with it as day wear, like The Uniform Project does. I saw this Fashionista glide down the hallway looking absolutely stunning with the perfect lip colour, neck-piece and a sassy LBD.

Name: Priyanjali Rajlaxmi Singh

Major: Fashion Design

Year: Sophomore

CollegeFashionista: How would you describe your personal style?

Priyanjali Rajlaxmi Singh: I tend to like and dress up in feminine classy clothes. I like comfortable, loose clothes. I don’t like flashy or body hugging clothing items. I try to incorporate bling subtly by wearing a statement neck-piece, or maybe a little bit of surface development on the collar of my shirt. I like accessorizing. A bit of embellishment in my daily wear makes me feel feminine, yet powerful at the same time.

CF: Any recent trend which has changed your style statement to a huge extent?

PRS: Lipcolor. I love experimenting with different shades and have been quite obsessed with them this season.

CF: What are the must-haves in your wardrobe?

PRS: A basic white shirt, a little black dress, black heels, a blue well-fitting Levi Brand Jeans and a cashmere sweater.. Also, I never step outside my house without my eye liner and lip gloss.

CF: What have you recently added to your wardrobe?

PRS: High-waisted baggy pants and a lot of crop tops!

CF: What are your favorite brands to shop at?

PRS: Zara, Promod, Vero Moda, Kazo, Accessorize, Pavers England and Catwalk. But I feel it’s always better to get customized clothing. Being a designer myself, I often design what I need or want.

How To: Finding the correct LBD for your body type can be risky, while most of us tend to pick up any cut and style that looks good, we often forget to find out if it flatters our body type. An A-line skater dress or off-shoulder will do wonders for a pear-shaped. A fitted bodycon is great for the hourglass girls out there.  A peplum for the rectangular body type and and A flared A-line with flowy fabric for the apple shaped looks great. For day wear, accessorize with pop lip colours, ballet flats/ boots/ oxfords, a watch, a statement neck-piece and maybe a hat if it’s too sunny? The LBD is a classic piece and will go perfectly with whatever you decide to wear it with.
