Happy New Year everyone! Today marked the beginning of a new semester and a fresh start for most students. As I walked out of my car in the 50º F weather, I was hoping to find the perfect Fashionista on this cold day. Normally, when it is too cold on campus, students can only worry about staying warm, so it is difficult for many Fashionistas to look their very best.
During this time of the year, the weather is constantly changing from hot to cold, so we do not always know what to wear. However, there is one color that all of us have in our closest and can use it any particular day of the year: Black, also known as the complete absence of light, is a lifesaver to most of us. As Coco Chanel once said, “I imposed black; it is still going strong today, for black wipes out everything else around.” Black will forever be known as a neutral color that is modern and very wearable in any occasion.
This morning, when I was heading to the university’s library, I spotted today’s Fashionista. This stylish girl knows how to dress and look her best in black.
Name: Paola Morales
Major: Pre-Dental Biology
CollegeFashionista: What are you wearing right now?
Paola Morales: I am wearing a Zara lace turtleneck and tights. I recently got my black tote from Zara in my winter break travel to Mexico City. I bought my faux leather jacket at Forever 21. My leather boots are Cole Haan — I ordered them a few years ago, but I love the fact they never go out of style during this season.
CF: What inspires your look?
PM: My looks are inspired by how I feel each day. I usually like to dress edgy with a feminine glow. When I have the chance I read Nylon, Teen Vogue and InStyle magazines to see what is becoming popular and trendy. Every so often, I explore fashion to add up-to-date garments to my wardrobe and style them my way. Overall, my style is very unpredictable and daring.
CF: What stores do you like to shop at?
