As my first class of senior year concluded, I made my way out into the hallway to join the hustle and bustle of my peers and immediately my eyes spotted this Fashionista. The start of a semester means new beginnings. While some students are switching their majors others are working on creating their latest oasis in a different dorm. It’s only a matter of time until they find themselves sighing after a long day of classes, “home sweet dorm.” The start of a new school year also provides students the chance to debut their latest looks and share what kind of stylistic developments they made over the summer.
This week’s Fashionista drew me in with the color and pattern of her outfit. She didn’t seem to encounter the classic dilemma of what to wear on the first day of classes based on this look. She nails it by pairing this crop top with a fun, flirty high-waisted skirt. Crop tops are usually a more daring piece reserved for weekends but here it is transformed. In this ensemble the crop top is class appropriate because it is paired with the cut of the skirt, showing less skin than your usual weekend wear. She completes the look with a pair of summery woven flats, which add a bit more sparkle opposed to your average flip flops. This Fashionista’s look is ideal for the first day of classes because it is relaxed and casual but at the same time polished.

CollegeFashionista: Describe your style in a few words.
Ozana Plemenitash: Hipster, vintage, casual but put together.
CF: Who is your celebrity style icon?
OP: Mila Kunis and Aubrey Hepburn.
CF: What do you think you will be wearing a lot of this fall?
OP: I foresee some black legging in my future. They are a great layering piece and comfortable to wear.
CF: Is there anything in your closet that you couldn’t live without?
OP: My gray TOMS because they are so versatile. They are ideal for just about any occasion.
How to: The key to attaining this look is by starting with a patterned piece and building off of that. This floral skirt from Urban Outfitters would make a great statement. But, remember to tone down the rest of your look because the patterned skirt is a bold focal point. A basic solid colored T-shirt would make a great addition and it would provide the comfort you need on a full day of classes. Last but not least, check out these cute woven flats to complete the look and give you that extra detail necessary for any great outfit.
