Most of us consider ourselves fashionable and daring, and I will be the first to admit that am in this mix. But it’s confession time: designers have let us down in the outerwear department. We are all trying to dress to impress, and we don’t want our outerwear to be lacking in the impression department. It is very difficult to find a coat that is as fashionable as our layers underneath. As I walk on campus, I see only three colors in our outerwear: black, gray and white. But let’s be real, we need a little bit of pizzazz! This Fashionista brought her outerwear up to the level of her other clothing choices. She rocks a beautiful rose-colored knee length pea coat, which pairs fashion with warmth and provides a great contrast to her dark hair. Her black boots and gray beaded sweater keep her outfit looking phenomenal once she takes her jacket off.

CF: Do you have a favorite designer that you look to for fashion inspiration?
NA: Yes, Jessica McClintock, and I also love Lilly Pulitzer.
CF: What is your go-to outfit for the cold winter weather?
NA: When it is this cold out I usually go straight for my boots, a pair of dark jeans and a big chunky sweater.
CF: How do you like to accessorize during the winter?
NA: With big earrings, my watch and statement necklaces, depending on the outfit; but I love also love wearing a variety of scarves.
How To: If you’re looking to take your outerwear from dull and dreary to pretty and preppy, try this pink peacoat. Keep warm with a statement sweater underneath, and cute leather boots. Finally, amp up the outfit with a big scarf and some cute mittens. As the weather gets warmer, you can skip the scarf and mittens and try this statement necklace paired with silver bangles.
