FASHIONISTA SPOTLIGHT: Nicole Reynolds

Fashionista Spotlight

I wake up every morning and grimace at the thought of walking across campus in the polar vortex. This definitely plagues my fashion and style choices. Instead of wearing my favorite sweater dress and fashioning my hair in a braided crown, I resort to throwing on a pair of jeans, a baggy sweater and a beanie to cover my nearly frost bitten ears. I’m not alone in these weather-fearing habits. This goes for fashion enthusiasts everywhere; we must dress better and show the snow who’s boss! This week’s Fashionista inspired me. She conquered the weather gracefully as she walked to class in pumps.

Name: Nicole Reynolds

Major: Public Relations

Year: Sophomore

CollegeFashionista: Tell me what you’re wearing!

Nicole Reynolds: I’m wearing a black leather circle skirt from PacSun. My pumps, which are my absolute favorite, bag and green sweater are from Target. I bought my coat and tights from Forever 21. I found this leopard blouse nestled in the sale rack at Express.

CF: How do you describe your personal style?

NR: I always wear neutrals. My closet is a sea of olive green, gray and black. However, I love adding a pop of color. That’s when the jewel tones come in!

CF: What’s your favorite item in your wardrobe?

NR: I have the most fantastic pair of neon green cropped pants! It’s weird because that isn’t usually a color I’d wear, but I love it. I’ll wear all black with it. The finishing touch is a bright blue necklace. It’s one of my favorite outfits. Hands down!

CF: Are there any trends that you are a serious follower of?

NR: I am a fan of layering everything. Also, high-waisted pants, shorts and skirts are a must.

CF: What garment needs to be the newest member of your closet ASAP?

NR: I recently saw Jessica Alba rocking this long tulle skirt. I need to buy one immediately.

How To: You too can get This Fashionista’s look! Start out with a neutral printed blouse and layer it under your favorite crewneck sweater. Then, throw on a high-waisted circle skirt. Every girl should have at least three; a leather, patterned and black one!  You don’t want to freeze in these harsh elements, so you can’t forget to put on a pair of colored opaque tights. Finally, finish off your look with a square bag, pair of pumps and a long peacoat.
