Comfortable and cute. Cute and comfortable. These words go together like peanut butter and jelly, or spaghetti and meatballs. An unavoidable pairing that every Fashionista strives to achieve. A night out on the town with your girls, sure throw on leather leggings and a silky body suit, but daily, we strive for the dynamic duo: comfortable yet cute. This Fashionista nails the look with a Native American inspired shrug, classic white T-shirt, black leggings and moccasins. Her genius was to wear essentially slippers (the ultimate comfort shoe) but pick a pair like moccasins to add some style and pull together the outfit by staying in the same theme of her standout piece: the printed cardigan. To pull her adorable outfit together, she carries her books in a studded black tote. I think I’ve probably showcased ten plus studded items at this point, but I really don’t think it’s possible for me to get sick of them. As this Fashionista proves with her chic bag, studs add the perfect amount of bling to any casual outfit, especially the fabulous comfortable-cute look!
Name: Nicole McGrory
CollegeFashionista: Where is your outfit from?
Nicole McGrory: The bag is from Francesca’s, the sweater is PacSun, the leggings are Victoria Secret, a white top from TOBI and just some old moccasins.
CF: I love TOBI for online, do you prefer shopping online or in a store?
NM: Probably online it’s a lot easier; you can see the clothes on people. I mean obviously it’s better to try everything on (laughs) but I prefer online.
CF: What celebrities do you look at for style inspiration?
NM: Old Miley Cyrus, before she cut her hair, and Vanessa Hudgens. It’s like boho-chic, dressy yet comfortable.
CF: What’s your go-to outfit for a night out?
NM: In Florida: crop tops, high-waisted shorts, high-waisted pants or circle skirts.
CF: Can you think of a popular style you’d like to try out?
NM: I’d say military; it’s a bit out of my comfort zone. I don’t usually wear army print or dark greens.
CF: I notice you have some tattoos. Do you pick outfits that showcase them?
NM: Sometimes, I have one on my back so I like wearing open backed shirts to show it off.
How To: To achieve this picture perfect combo of comfortable yet cute, follow this Fashionista’s lead and pick a printed cardigan as your main piece. This way, the rest of your outfit can be comfortable basics, like her white T-shirt and leggings. I also advise you live by the rule that leggings are only acceptable if your shirt and cardigan cover you behind! No crop tops and leggings please. Next, find a pair of easy flats to slip on, like a printed fabric sneaker or satin ballet flats. Finish your look with some necessary sparkle. It could be a multi-zipper tote or layered necklaces, just something to add that extra something and voila comfy/cute perfection!
