Even though there were a lot of fashion don’ts in the ’80s, there were also a lot of fashion dos that oddly enough have started to make a comeback. One trend I keep noticing around town is using bright, floral patterns. I spotted this Fashionista wearing one of her Mom’s vintage dresses, and I had to stop her to learn more about her style.
Name: Nicole Broccolino
Major: Criminology and Spanish
CollegeFashionista: How would you describe your “personal style”?
Nicole Broccolino: I would describe my style as natural/classy.
CF: What is your favorite store and why?
NB: My favorite store is Forever 21 because it’s classy, good-quality clothes at an affordable price, which is very important for a Fashionista like me.
CF: What is your favorite accessory?
NB: Earrings are my favorite accessory because they draw attention to the face and facial features without taking away from the outfit. They allow the clothes to stand out on their own.
CF: How would you describe your perfect summer outfit?
NB: My perfect summer outfit includes a vintage find from one of my friends’ closets, and simple accessories.
CF: What is your least favorite trend?
NB: My least favorite trend would have to be patterned denim. Although some people may be able to pull it off, it is just not my style.
CF: Do you have any advice for Fashionistas on a budget?
NB: My advice to Fashionistas on a budget is to never underestimate the clearance rack. Also, try shopping off-season because I have realized you can find some of the best deals that way.
How To: This Fashionista’s outfit is great for a casual day out with the girls. To replicate this look, try finding ‘80s inspired dresses. Since these dresses are making a comeback, they are not hard to find. Try pairing the dress with simple earrings and a necklace. You do not want a piece that is going to take away from the vibrant pattern on the dress. To top off the look, try wearing a simple sandal with a gold strap. This will pull your entire look together.
