Following the chaotic storm that left Toronto in tatters and its residents in complete hibernation, this week University of Toronto was all smiles when the sun decided to grace the city with its presence. Taking the zero degree weather in her stride, this Fashionista embraced the city’s streets in some of winter’s finest trends and textures in monochromatic hues — ideal for the wintry months.
Layering a cream colored asymmetric sweater with a distressed leather jacket complete with a fur vest, she accentuates her simplistic ensemble with a mauve and purple neck piece. These subdued shades compliment her dark color palette nicely, pulling together a sophisticated look, fitting for the icy setting.
Name: Neda Iranmanesh
Major: Economics, Statistics with Business in German
CollegeFashionista: What are you wearing today?
Neda Iranmanesh: I’m wearing a leather jacket from H&M, a rabbit fur vest from a boutique in Switzerland, trousers from French Connection, Michael Kors boots and sweater and necklace from ZARA.
CF: With the ever changing Canadian weather, how do you manage to stay in style?
NI: I like to wear lots of layers, especially a mixture of thicker fabrics in the darker shades. To stay fashionable, I like to accentuate my outfits with brighter accessories especially statement necklaces. I think they bring some color to an outfit and it is a great add on when I’m wearing something minimalistic.
CF: Where do you like to shop in Toronto?
CF: What item of clothing do you think is one of your go-to items this season?
NI: I love furs, and they can work all through fall and winter. They can make an outfit look classy whilst giving you the same warmth a bulky jacket would.
How To: If you want to recreate this Fashionista’s look but add your own twist, you could always consider pairing a faux fur jacket with leather panelled trousers. Or for a more casual look, switch this Fashionista’s leather jacket for a cozy cardigan and try replacing the necklace for a printed scarf or a chunky bracelet. If you are ever looking for a good plain scarf though, I recommend checking the men’s section, they usually have great stuff! Pair your outfit with a pair of good boots and you have, with just a few mixes and matches, this Fashionista’s outfit except with your own touch!
