FASHIONISTA SPOTLIGHT: Natalie Poché

Fashionista Spotlight

While not everyone prioritizes fashion on campus, there are many of us that follow it religiously. Since I happen to be one of those people, I had to scope out all the collections from the incredible fashion design students at the UT fashion show, Spectrum. It was there that I had the opportunity to meet this Fashionista, who was one of the fashion design award winners this year. As the former president of the University Fashion Group and one of the most amazing designers in her program, she had a lot of notable insight in regards to her fashion experience and trendy style. For pointers on how to achieve this Fashionista’s look or learn more about the life of a fashion designer, check out all the details below!

Name: Natalie Poché

Major: Fashion Design and Apparel

Year: Senior

CollegeFashionista: What are you wearing today and where is it from?

Natalie Poché: Today I am wearing a floral shift dress that I found at T.J. Maxx, a leather jacket I got at Forever 21, black booties from Zara and a white antique style necklace from Francesca’s.

CF: How has your major influenced how you dress?

NP: My major has influenced how I dress in so many ways. It has opened my eyes to all the different types of styles of clothing there is out there. It really helped me come into my own style.

CF: Who are your main style icons?

NP: Vanessa Hong from The Haute Pursuit Blog.

CF: What are your plans post-graduation?

NP: My plans post graduation include interning for Rebecca Taylor in New York City and moving up there this summer!

CF: If there is any designer you could work with, who would it be and why?

NP: I would love to work for Helmut Lang because they work with fabrics that I love and they have an urban aesthetic while maintaining a sense of minimalism.

How To: To emulate this edgy and sophisticated outfit, seek out a black leather jacket and pair it with a sleek black dress. For the accessories, invest in a classic pair of ankle boots and find the perfect statement piece. Once you’ve done that, you’ll be looking like a Thakoon meets Alexander Wang trendsetter in no time!
