Fashionista Spotlight

Florals are huge for summer, they come in all shapes, sizes and colors. A big trend this year is mixing girly items like florals, with punk accessories, like a leather jacket or combat boots. I love this trend, I think it gives off such an effortless but cool vibe. The thing I love about this style is how easy it is to pull off on anyone, and it looks so chic in the final outcome. I love the way this Fashionista took her girly/punk style and gave it a flare with a little bit of vintage, by adding knee-high socks.

Name: Miranda Greathouse

Major: English

Year: Sophomore

CollegeFashionista: What inspired your outfit today?

Miranda Greathouse: It was a really nice day out today so I wanted to wear a dress. I love knee-high socks, I think it’s a really vintage but chic look. The dress was really girly so I added combat boots to make it look a little punk rock.

CF: Whom do you look to for inspiration?

MG: I love Lana Del Rey. She has a great classic and vintage look. I like the way she mixes girly items with a boyish, hard-core flare.

CF: What are your favorite stores to shop at?

MG: Some of my favorite stores are Forever 21, Urban Outfitters and thrift stores. I love the variety all of them have and they always have trendy items. The prices are also pretty reasonable.

How To: I love the way this Fashionista mixed a girly dress with boyish accessories. To imitate this look try by pairing a bright red dress with florals, black cutout boots and fun accessories like a vintage floppy hat or white cross-body bag. If you are more into basic items, try a black skater dress with floral booties and a pastel cross-body bag.
