Fashionista Spotlight

The middle of any week can be bittersweet. You’ve conquered two days so far but you have three more to go. Luckily, for us Fashionista/os we go through each day of the week with a new style attitude, making the most of Wednesday’s bump into the weekend. The Fashionista I happened to spot walking around campus today not only looked comfy in her outfit but very chic as well. Her scarf and knitted cardigan were my favorite eye-catching pieces because who doesn’t love a Fashionista who’s an expert at layering? This outfit is the perfect push to get through a week and truly exemplifies the popular motto: less is more.

Name: Melissa Sanchez

Major: Broadcast Communications

Year: Freshman

CollegeFashionista: What is your favorite article of clothing at the moment?

Melissa Sanchez: My favorite article of clothing has to be my scarf. I really love how you can wear a scarf with almost everything and it keeps me warm!

CF: Where does your style inspiration come from?

MS: I don’t think I have a specific style, I wear whatever I like and what I think looks good on me personally. If I had to choose something that inspires me it’s most likely my mood. It all depends how I’m feeling that day as well. Putting on something that makes me feel good always brightens up my mood.

CF: Where do you usually shop?

MS: I love shopping at American Eagle Outfitters and Cotton On. They’re both great stories that have everything a Fashionista might need.

CF: How has your style changed since being in college?

MS: My style has definitely changed since being in college. In high school I wore an uniform, so I never really had a chance to wear what I wanted to. Now that I’m in college, I have so much fun and freedom just throwing on whatever I please.

How To: Coming up with something to wear for a day that is awkwardly placed right in the middle can be tedious but probably even the more fun. Take it from this Fashionista, as you definitely don’t need to go all out with your wardrobe. You can wear something casual and comfortable while still making heads turn. For a sleek and sophisticated look, a high pony is ideal. Add to the mature hairstyle by throwing on a pair of leggings tucked in to your favorite leather boots. Knit sweaters or cardigans make the best pieces to use as layers. I’ve had my eye on ASOS’ boyfriend cardigan for awhile now and I think it’s time I treat myself to it. To spice up the gray on black posh look, throw over a shimmer eternity scarf. With this cozy outfit, you’ll be on your way to an amazing looking weekend (hopefully one without New York’s bipolar weather).
